Millennium 2358
Author: Kugee This sure is a promising start. Welcome to Millenium build 2358, everyone! A new program is added here. The Help Center serves as more of an HTML-based hub for browsing help topics, which still come in the previous Windows 98 help format. Funny enough, there's some links to programming tutorials upfront here. I doubt programmers would want to use Millennium as their development environment. Suggesting everyday users learn to write their own programs is certainly encouraged, but maybe Visual Basic would be a more appropriate starting point for them? This looks more like an actual bug report form in contrast to the one found in PCHealth. There are a number of things I've probably missed in earlier builds, like the Start menu being much more flexible than it was in Windows 98. You can hide certain buttons you don't use, including the Favorites menu. Certainly, hiding the logoff button makes sense for single user systems. Thumbnail previews in Explorer also work now, though I'm willing to bet they did in 2348 as well. I'm just doing this all as I go along with no real plan on what to look out for, as it's been a long time since I made contributions to this server. The survey button is still not implemented at this point. That'll be all for today. I'm hoping to cover Beta 1 tomorrow, as there aren't all that many builds of it out there; in fact, there are more developer release builds than Beta 1 builds. One other thing, this message appears when you try to install Windows 98's boot files (IO.SYS and the like) in Millennium: Unsupported WIN.COM Message number 0019h send mail to AaronR WITH THE NUMBER!!! I suppose "AaronR" has been really frustrated with vague reports about WIN.COM? |
