Sony VAIO PCV100/120

Author: Anonymous

Today, I have cracked the Sony VAIO PCV100/120. This is the first 9x Sony VAIO that the PCRA project has cracked. Let's get right into it!

This is the initial recovery screen. This recovery system is the Phoenix Emergency Recovery system, which is another general recovery system sold to OEMs, like SoftThinks' PC Angel.

From here, you can choose Complete or Selective Recovery. I'm choosing Complete Recovery.

Now, it's copying files. This will take a while..

(PNG)

Some more random files it copies straight off of the CD.

USB support is disabled once you recover. Good to know, I guess?

Setup and drivers go through as usual. You can kinda see a glimpse of the background, although you'll see it again later once I install VMware Tools. (edited)

(PNG)

We can't do this, since the servers are long dead.

And here we are! Installing VMware Tools took a while, because CD-ROM drivers weren't working, but I got it working!

First of all, there are TONS of programs, so this might just be a long review. Lol.

(PNG)

TONS of audio programs. I couldn't really fit all of them, but here are some of them.

(PNG)

"Best of Entertainment". Looks like a ton of games from the Microsoft Entertainment Packs.

(PNG)

This is pretty interesting: a 3D environment thingy called "Community Place". I'm not entirely sure what this does, but it's pretty cool.

DeltaPoint QuickSite. A simple website builder.

(PNG)

EasyPhoto. Some sort of basic photo editor.

(PNG)

Investor Insight. I doubt this even works anymore.

(PNG)

(PNG)

MGI PhotoSuite, basic photo editor.

(PNG)

Microsoft Works 4.0 for Windows 95.

(PNG)

Netscape Navigator 3.0. Can't do much with this nowadays.

(PNG)

Quicken SE version 6. Nobody likes finance, so let's move on.

(PNG)

Sidekick 95. I'm guessing it's kinda like a better Cardfile?

(PNG)

(PNG)

Microsoft Money. That's the last program I've found on here!

(PNG)

Here's VAIO Space. It's pretty interesting.

This looks like some sort of an alternate shell. It almost looks like a Microsoft BOB for Sony computers!

Okay, NOW we're done. That was a long review!
