This is the desktop for the Compaq Presario 7000T. It runs Windows 98 SE but the other specs don't seem to be anywhere to be found so sadly that's all I know at the moment. Let's dig in.

Firstly we have wallpapers. Its the same as most Compaq Presario Internet PCs. The default selected one is Sapphire which I'm keeping selected because why not.

This is the only OEM screensaver and we've seen it before. Its that BackWeb stuff again and yet again its not really a screensaver and also doesn't really work anymore due to their servers being dead (so if you had no internet back then, then this wouldn't work). Let's continue on.

So this Compaq PC runs a custom OEM version of the Netscape Navigator suite (in this case, we're looking at Netscape Communicator version 4.7). This is actually one of the first ever PCs to have a Netscape suite come with AIM pre-installed (as you could see from the desktop in a previous picture) and just AIM pre-installed in general.

And this is really the only modification Compaq made to Netscape. Just some Compaq-related buttons located in the "Help" button. Let's move on.

So oddly enough this also comes with MSN Messenger (renamed Windows Messenger then Windows Live Messenger before it went defunct in around 2011). Of course it wont work nowadays but this was the first ever inclusion of their passport logon service which was first really integrated in Windows XP and then it kinda died by the time Vista came out and was phased out for the Windows Live logon system that is still in use today.

You have a slightly modified version of IE5. The modification isn't seen on many Compaq PCs but it has been seen before. It is clearly visible as replacing the Windows logo loading with a Compaq logo loading in the top right near the 3 buttons on the title bar. I wonder what would've happened if you had updated it or upgraded Windows. Would it go away?

You have this neat little program called the RioPort Audio Manager. I assume you only got this if you had a RioPort audio card or driver but nice anyways. Got more features on it than you do with modern applications. This is version 2.2.052.

Okay so this comes with Microsoft FrontPage Express version 2.0.2.1131. This is not a common sighting. In fact this is my first time seeing it bundled. Seems like a Microsoft official mini-Word application like a pre-WordPad application so to speak.

And what would a Compaq PC be without a copy of Carbon Copy 32. Like all other Compaq PCs this is the host only version.

Well that's all for this OEM review and I'll see you in the next one

EXTRA - This model was shown in a commercial back in the year 2000 (apparently with Windows ME meaning it came with both OS's back then). You can see the commercial here: https://youtu.be/aTpVyCtwcHs?t=61
